Obtaining Social security payment at certain times of the year it can certainly be a relief United States citizens. There are times that are more important than others for you to be able to you use the money to make specific purchases.

In the case of Christmas, for example, being able to have the money you need is really vital to be able to make these types of purchases without needing to feel too much stress about not having money. And that’s because the holiday season can be stressful for Americans who don’t have much Social security advantage.

And the problem is, many of those Americans won’t get their retirement checks in time in December to shop. Some will receive their benefit after the holidays. At least one group will be in this situation. But there is another group that will also have the opportunity to be in this situation.

Beneficiaries in the second largest group of retirees will get theirs Social Security checks later. The administration divides pensioners into two large groups, but the first of them will receive a check on time without a problem.

The first group is the group of beneficiaries with a compensation before 1997. This group is not divided into other different groups, but all retirees prior to this year receive the check on the same day. In the month of December, this day will be the 1st of the month.

On the other hand, the other group is the group of pensioners after 1997. This group is in turn divided into three different groups. And of those three groups, one of them certainly can’t get the check before Christmas. The other two groups might get it, but it’s not 100% sure. These are the payment days for these groups:

  • December 13. It’s the second Wednesday of the month, but it’s the third week, so it’s later than usual. The payment is for pensioners with birthdays from the 1st to the 10th of the month.
  • December 20. Retirees born between the 11th and 20th of the month may be able to receive a check before Christmas, but that’s only if they activate payment by direct deposit.
  • December 27. Every pensioner with a birthday between the 21st and 31st of the month and Social security after 1997 will collect on this day. It is not possible to receive payment before Christmas for this group.

This month it is more important than ever to activate Direct Deposit as this will help us get paid as soon as possible.

In addition to these payments for retirees, Social Security Administration will send two other checks in December. These payments are only for Supplemental Security Income (SSI) recipients and will arrive on two different days.

The first of these checks will arrive on December 1. This payment will only be for SSI recipients who have previously accepted this benefit. The payment will be for a maximum of $914 as it applies to the 2023 calendar year.

In addition to this payment, Social security Adadministration will also pay the January 2024 SSI check to 29th day of December. This advance is due to a small irregularity in the calendar. Since the payment is for 2024, COLA is added to it, so it will be a maximum of $943.
