Social security will send the first January payment on December 29, 2023. To send money on a working day, they have rescheduled the payment of the supplementary insurance income and it will arrive three days before the New Year, which is a holiday.
Although there is a general pattern for Social security payments, there may be changes. Knowing when your benefits are due is vital. This will help you plan your budget and you will be able to increase your savings. Sticking to a budget and planning your expenses is essential if you are on a low income.
Typically, SSI recipients will receive their payment on the first day of the month. Unless that day is a weekend or holiday, like January 1st. Then if you have started collecting Social security benefits prior to May 1997, your payment day would be the 3rd of the month. But there will be exceptions.
Social Security may send your check on Wednesday
If you are not eligible for a retirement check or SSDI on the 3rd day of the month, then your payment will arrive on the second, third and fourth Wednesday of the month at 2024. However, there will be one exception.January will have payment days on the 3rd, 10th, 17th and 24th. Note that Wednesday’s round of payments is for those who didn’t receive benefits before May 1997. But then you’ll need to know if your birthday coincides with the first, second or third payment.
For example, if your birthday is on the 5th of each month, you will receive yours Social security paymentst on January 10. This is because this check is only for those whose birthday is from the 1st to the 10th.
Those whose date of birth is from 11 to 20 can take it Social Security retirement benefits or SSDI on January 17. If your birthday is not between the 1st and 20th, you will redeem your money on January 24th.
Exemptions from SSI, SSDI, or retirement payments in 2024 from the SSA
In February those of SSDI or retirement benefits will receive their payment on February 2nd if they normally receive it on the 3rd. February 3rd is on the weekend so their Social security will arrive the previous business day. The same group of beneficiaries will also receive their payment for March on a different day.
As March 3rd is a Sunday, recipients will redeem their money on the same day Supplemental Security Income beneficiaries do, March 1. April would be the perfect example of Social security salary days. All SSI, SSDI, and retirement payments will arrive as they become due. On April 1st, 3rd, 10th, 17th and 24th, payments will go into your bank account.
May is an almost perfect example, but has a June SSI payment on May 31st. June has another unusual payment. Those eligible on the third Wednesday Social security payment will receive it instead on the third Tuesday, June 18. July has no changes, but August has.
Retirees and SSDI recipients will receive their money on August 2nd, not the 3rd. SSI beneficiaries will redeem their September payment on August 30. No changes are expected for October, but November 3 will not be a payment day as it is a Sunday. SSDI and pension beneficiaries will receive their checks on November 1st.
December’s SSI check will arrive on November 29th. Finally, the last December payment for retirees and people on SSDI will be on the 4th Tuesday, December 24th. Set yours Social security payment schedule and file for benefits if you are not receiving them yet.
